Climbing Arborist
$20-35/hour

If you are an experienced climber, we have opportunities to help you progress in your career. We are passionate about helping you reach your potential! At Honorable Tree Service, you will work as part of a crew, handling everything from pruning to removals to cabling/bracing and lightning protection installation. As a Climbing Arborist, you will also have the opportunity to lead and develop Arborist Apprentices that are part of your crew.
Requirements include:
-
Minimum of 2-5 years of climbing experience using ropes and follow all safety standards.

Must be physically fit for climbing
-
Must have clear understanding of and capability in rigging
-
Basic knowledge of tree removal techniques
-
Experience operating a chainsaw
-
Must be self-motivated with a desire to not only grow and learn, but to help others learn and develop in their roles as Arborist Apprentices and Trainees
-
Must hold a valid Virginia Driver’s License with a clean driving record and have reliable transportation to work
-
Ability to work Monday-Thursday from 7AM until approximately 3-5PM depending on the size of the job
-
Must be willing and able to work outdoors year-round in both cold and hot conditions.
Preference will be given to individuals with:

ISA Arborist Certification
-
Basic understanding of tree anatomy & pruning techniques
-
Strong tree identification skills
-
Sales experience
-
Crew leader experience
Duties:
Vary depending on skills and certifications:

Run your own team if you have demonstrated experience

Communicate effectively with teammates

Contribute to a safe work environment for employees, contractors, customers and passersby

Contribute to a positive work environment and bring a positive attitude to the job each day.

Contribute to training new teammates as directed and/or needed

Drive trucks and trailers to and from the job site.

Ensure that each employee has the proper PPE according to the assigned task

Perform equipment inspections prior to use
-
Maintain equipment and vehicles in a clean, professional manner.

Operate a variety of power equipment depending on skills and certifications including skid steerer, chipper, stump grinder, etc.

Prepare vehicles and equipment on a daily basis to be as productive as possible onsite including fueling, cleaning, greasing and performing preventative maintenance in a regular proactive manner.

Follow safety protocols when working with power tools.
-
Inspect trees for dead or diseased branches and limbs.
-
Climb trees using rope & harness, and spur & flip line climbing techniques
-
Remove dead or diseased branches and limbs from trees. Use a variety of tools, such as saws, shears, and pruners, to trim and shape trees.

Drag limbs, clear debris, rake, and clean-up job site

Arborist Apprentice/Groundsman
$16-18/hour
We will teach you the ropes of a rewarding trade from the ground up! As an Arborist Apprentice, you will start your career with Honorable Tree Service by learning the basics of arboriculture, including the skills needed to safely operate and maintain equipment such as a chipper, stump grinder and chainsaw, rigging and climbing trees using ropes, tree identification, proper pruning techniques to promote tree health, removal methods, and how to work effectively as a team when pruning or removing trees. Arborist Apprentices quickly grow into Climbing Arborists and can eventually lead their own crews!
Requirements include:

Must be 18+ years of age
-
Must be self-motivated with a desire to grow and learn
-
Reliable and committed to working towards an arborist certification
-
Must hold a valid Virginia Driver’s License with a clean driving record and have reliable transportation to and from work
-
Must be professional and be able to verbally communicate with other crew members and fully understand instructions and information
-
Ability to work Monday-Thursday from 7AM until approximately 3-5PM depending on the size of the job

Must be willing and able to work outdoors year-round in both cold and hot conditions.

No experience required, we are willing to train enthusiastic and dependable candidates
Duties include:

Assisting Arborist with tree removal and tree applications

Tool and vehicle maintenance

Starting, running and shutting down chipper, clearing and chipping brush

Running chainsaw to dismantle larger tree limbs and trunks. Chainsaw experience useful, but willing to train
